30
Okay, the journey towards weight loss has been a near absolute success. I surprise myself everyday by waking up early and hitting the gym. All is well. Or so, I thought. For every action there is, as we learnt and continue to do so, an equal and opposite reaction. My reaction to gym? binging on anything and everything sweet. So even though I manage to workout, the scale never dips because of the gigantic sweet tooth in my head.
It’s been almost a month now since I started at the gym and not a pound lost. Thus I’ve come up with 30 which roughly translates as – I hereby swear to never eat anything sweet for the next 30 days (except fruits). Let God have mercy on me and work some miracles :)
Hoping to see some encouraging results at the end of Feb,
Sakura :)

Omens and Miracles
It was Tuesday and I had this mad urge to sign up for gym classes. But my Mom was so against it because Tuesdays are generally considered to be, well, inauspicious. So I signed up on Wednesday. My Dad didn't like it. He thinks that gym will make me bulkier but hey, I've seen some of my classmates turn into Disney Princesses in a year because of gym! The moment I signed up , a storm decided to make its way to land through my city. Really. An actual storm.
When I woke up in the morning what do I see but strong winds shaking up the trees? And my dear father refused to let me out of the house. I waited and waited for my parents to leave for work and the moment they did, I grabbed my stuff and dashed for an awesome workout :D It wasn't drizzling when I stepped out but oh man, it started pouring when I reached the bus stop. I waited for 30 minutes. No bus. I was getting really agitated and then it happened... the first miracle . A share auto came by. This is really a miracle because share autos don't ply to my area. NEVER. I jumped in and was very happy ^_^
I reached the gym. Warm up, tread mill, elliptical thingy, cycle thingy and stretches. Then I made an appointment with the dietician ^_^ . it was raining when I returned home. Again, had to wait for nearly 45 minutes for the bus :( But I was very happy ^_^
In the end

Off to a sluggish start

It’s been 5 days since I vowed to work out and diet.
I did walk and jog..well.. kind of, during the first two days and I did stick to a healthy diet, except on Saturday evening . On the eve of this frustrating day, the office bus dropped me at the MTC bus stop at 7.30pm and I was very happy that I was going to reach home early (the usual time being 9pm. I know, I can hear your gasps). Alas! Fate decided against it. The MTC to my route came only at 8.30pm and I got home only at 9 :( I was so angry when I entered the house that I blindly gulped down two Gulab Jamuns (an action which I regret now *sob* *sob*).
Yesterday my friend and I firmly decided that we would start walking/jogging from Monday. I was happy because my friend, who usually preferred walking along in the streets, agreed to walk with me at the local park. I hate jogging in the streets early in the morning because of three disturbing factors: the stray dogs, the garbage and the traffic.
The stray dogs:
At 5am when you set out for a walk, a lone stray dog starts to bark at you from the darkness of the roadside. Suddenly, out of the blue, it starts chasing you while barking madly and before you know what’s happening you’ll be running down street after street with a whole gang of Resident Evil dogs at your feet. Though my friend says things like that won’t happen, I’m definitely not up for an encounter of THAT kind x_x
The garbage:
Due to over population and various other reasons, the city’s garbage dumps are not sufficient for dumping garbage. Hence all the smelly unidentifiable stuff overflows onto the road and at the wee hours of the morning with no sunlight and scarce street lights, you won’t know what you are stepping on *shudders*.
The traffic:
I know what you are wondering dear readers. What kind of traffic does one expect to see that early in the morning? This is the heart of the city we are talking about. With two major railway stations that deploy trains to the rest of the state and country, you can imagine the crowd that will gather 24*7. And hence the traffic.
I’ll wrap up for now. Planning to jog tomorrow :) Will update soon ^_^

Beginning
Eating healthy and regular exercise were alien to me until now. I knew that once I start working, things are going to be hell unless I schedule a proper food and exercise plan. And so came my goals for the month of September. I did a trial of the goals last week and this was how things turned out x_x
1.Lose 3 kgs: Will it ever happen? :(
2. Read four books: Sure! Jcl, DB2, COBOL, DBMS.. why not? x_x
3. Keep food journal for the month: Yup. Feasible :)
4. Exercise: When I walked in the park the other day at 5 in the morning, I was so sleepy that my eyelids were closing now and then and my head was rolling from side to side x_x hmmm... I must hit bed early to avoid this.
5. Watch 5 movies: Will do my best! :D
Keep watching this space for regular updates ^_^
